What this is
The Texas Comptroller publishes one file per tax: sales tax permit holders, mixed beverage permits, hotel tax, cigarette and tobacco retailers, fuels licenses, direct pay permits. Every file carries the same taxpayer number, and nothing joins them. This site does: one record per business, with its sales tax outlets and every other Comptroller permit under the same number.
Who uses it
- Suppliers and wholesalers — does this buyer hold a sales tax permit, and since when?
- Lenders and landlords — how many outlets, which permits, what kind of entity.
- Business owners — your own record as the Comptroller publishes it.
What it is not
Not the Comptroller, and not a permit or a resale certificate. Sole proprietors and partnerships of individuals are left out of this site. Franchise tax status and tax amounts are not in these files.
